Light and Warmth: A Sunroom & Family Room Redesign

This two-room transformation reimagined the sunroom and family room spaces into a blend of modern comfort and traditional Colonial elements.

Before: Functional but Lacking Personality

This home’s sunroom and family room were practical spaces with solid foundations but lacked cohesion and charm. The sunroom, though filled with natural light, felt underwhelming with dated furniture and a lack of character to match its bright, airy potential.

The family room featured a classic brick fireplace and wood trim but leaned heavily on traditional elements that felt dark and a bit heavy. The furniture arrangement didn’t fully take advantage of the cozy potential of the space, leaving it feeling more like an afterthought than a warm retreat for gathering.

After: A Harmonious Blend of Warmth and Light

We completely reimagined these spaces to bring out their full potential, balancing natural light, inviting textures, and thoughtful details.

In the sunroom, we chose a soothing neutral palette to highlight the abundance of natural light streaming through the large windows.

A crisp white sofa, accented with colorful, patterned throw pillows, became the focal point of the room.

We paired it with sleek velvet swivel chairs and a glass coffee table to maintain the room’s open and airy feel.

In the fireplace nook, we transformed our client’s grandpa’s favorite chair, making it a warm, comfy spot to relax by the fire. The upholstery was super dated and the cushions were flat. The wood had seen better days. Our talented upholsterer used the original cushions as a template and created new ones that will last for decades to come.

By layering rugs and adding subtle decor, we introduced warmth and texture without overpowering the space, creating a serene retreat perfect for relaxation or entertaining.

In the family room, we embraced its traditional roots while introducing a modern, polished aesthetic.

The brick fireplace remains the centerpiece, but we revitalized the space with a soft, neutral sofa that anchors the room.

Bold, patterned armchairs to add a pop of personality.

On the fireplace and surrounding built-ins, we styled layered decor to create a welcoming focal point.

Framed artwork and carefully chosen pillows brought the room together, striking a balance between comfort and sophistication.

Together, we crafted two spaces that feel connected and cohesive, celebrating light, warmth, and charm. Now, this home offers the perfect blend of coziness and style, making it a true retreat for everyday living.
