Before & After: A Colorful Hudson Primary Bedroom

This primary bedroom was a blank slate! Our clients wanted a calming space, but they also wanted to incorporate some happier tones.

To keep the room mostly calm, we selected a light blue color for the walls.

The sleigh bed is the only existing item our clients wanted to incorporate. Because the sleigh bed is such a red tone, we opted for white nightstands to calm down the color.

As you’ve likely noticed by now, we selected yellow for the happy tone in the room! The yellow lamps have a Mid-Century feel to them, as does the afghan that the client created by hand.

I incorporated more yellow in the custom draperies, which also have a touch of blue.

The ikat pillows incorporate the same blue and yellow tones as in the wall color, drapes, and lamp. By keeping the colors consistent, we can mix patterns without creating a mess in the room.

My clients really wanted a nice nook in which to read and drink coffee, so I added a custom chaise lounge, marble side table, funky lamp, and another coordinating ikat pillow to this little corner.
