When we first entered this space, it had tremendous potential. The room was full of character, showcasing an eclectic mix of vintage furniture, unique art pieces, and textiles.
The furniture, while solid in structure, was showing signs of age, with worn leather on key pieces such as the dining chairs.
The overall design felt cluttered, with too many small items competing for attention, making the space feel cramped and visually overwhelming.
The transformation brought new life to the room, creating a refined yet inviting space that beautifully showcases our client’s personal style.
Reupholstered Furniture
The vibrant green mohair we chose for the chaise turned it into a stunning centerpiece!
We trimmed the piece in a colorful cord to give it even more dimension.
The Thayer Coggin chairs still had the original white leather on them. The leather was unfortunately not salvageable, so we went in a completely different and unexpected direction!
The velvet fabric on the chairs injected a playful energy into the room.
We also reupholstered the tiny stools in a fun raspberry fabric that coordinates so well with the beautiful kimono hanging on the wall.
The two standout dining chairs were given a stunning update.
Their worn black leather was replaced with luxurious fabrics in rich jewel tones—one in a deep fuchsia tones and the other in a subtle green geometric print.
We picked a crushed velvet for the interior of this antique chair and a fun pattern for the back.
We put a subtle Greek key pattern on the other formerly black chairs.
This reupholstery added vibrant color and modern texture, tying the room together while maintaining the vintage charm of the furniture.
2. Enhanced Art Display
To highlight the client’s love of art, we curated a gallery wall above the credenza.
We carefully selected and arranged the client’s collection of art to form a dynamic yet cohesive display.
The wall became a focal point, adding depth and a sense of storytelling to the room.
3. Accessorizing and Cohesion
To complete the transformation, we added new accessories while streamlining the existing décor.
A mix of colorful pillows and thoughtfully arranged vignettes gave the room a polished yet approachable feel.
The transformation was striking. We focused on creating a space that felt both curated and harmonious, honoring the client’s personality and love for eclectic design.
This project is a perfect example of how small spaces can still have great design.
By carefully selecting and curating each piece, we maximized functionality without sacrificing style. The furniture’s reupholstered fabrics introduced bold colors without adding bulk, while the streamlined decor allowed the room to breathe. Each element was chosen with intention, proving that even compact spaces can feel open, dynamic, and full of personality.
The result? A fresh, sophisticated space that blends timeless elegance with a touch of modern flair, offering a perfect balance between functionality and charm.
