A Splash of Color Meets Sophistication

This Solon family room and dining room were spaces full of potential, but they felt disconnected and underutilized. We reimagined both the family room and dining room to create cohesive, stylish spaces that are as inviting as they are functional.

The family room boasted impressive architectural features like soaring ceilings, expansive windows, and built-in shelving flanking the fireplace. However, the muted beige tones of the carpet, walls, and furnishings left the room feeling flat and uninspired. While functional, the space lacked the personality and warmth needed to make it truly inviting.

The dining room shared a similar story. With its rich hardwood floors, elegant crown molding, and large windows, the room had great bones. Yet, it felt disjointed and overly formal, with dark wall accents and traditional elements that didn’t tie the space together. The lighting, while functional, lacked character, and the decor didn’t fully showcase the potential of this beautiful room.

Both spaces needed a cohesive design that would elevate their style while creating an inviting atmosphere for everyday living and entertaining.

Family Room

In the family room, we started by refreshing the walls with a soft, neutral tone that highlights the architectural features and brightens the entire space. A large, cream-colored sectional in a family-friendly performance fabric now anchors the room, offering ample seating for family and friends.

Vibrant throw pillows in shades of teal, navy, and floral patterns add layers of texture and color. A textured teal ottoman doubles as a focal point and a practical centerpiece.

To balance the height of the ceilings, we added a statement piece of modern art above the sofa, infusing the room with bold color and personality.

The built-in shelves were styled with curated books, vases, and accents in white, blue, and gold, creating a polished yet personal touch.

Updated lighting, including ceramic table lamps in a soft blue hue, enhances the cozy ambiance, while we left the large windows alone, allowing natural light to flood the room.

Dining Room

In the dining room, we embraced the opportunity to bring in both elegance and energy. A neutral wall color sets the stage for a more cohesive design.

The chandelier was swapped for a modern, gold-accented fixture that draws attention to the ornate ceiling medallion, adding a touch of grandeur.

To inject vibrancy and personality, we hung a colorful abstract painting that ties together the blues and greens from the rug and decor.

A blue bar cabinet in the corner and a restyled buffet add both functionality and visual interest, featuring carefully chosen vases, glassware, and decor that bring the space to life.

White draperies frame the windows, letting in soft, natural light while maintaining the room’s airy feel.

Together, these transformed spaces now feel cohesive, bright, and inviting. The family room serves as the perfect retreat for relaxation, while the dining room is a lively and stylish hub for gatherings.

Both rooms strike a balance between modern elegance and timeless comfort, creating a home that’s ready to be lived in and loved.
