This kitchen remodel marks Phase Two of a larger, whole-home transformation. After previously updating the primary bedroom and bath, living room, laundry room, and additional bathrooms, our focus shifted to the heart of the home—the kitchen. With the surrounding spaces already elevated, it was time for the kitchen to meet the same level of intention, warmth, and functionality.
Rather than starting from scratch, we approached this phase with a strategic eye, enhancing what worked while thoughtfully upgrading what no longer served the home’s style or daily flow.

Repainting the Cabinetry for a Fresh, Collected Look
One of the most impactful changes came through cabinetry. By repainting the existing cabinets, we instantly refreshed the space while maintaining its original footprint. The perimeter cabinetry remains light and timeless, while the island was finished in a soft, earthy green that adds depth and contrast. This layered approach brings character to the room without overpowering it—and allows the kitchen to feel both classic and current.

Replacing the Microwave with a Custom Vent Hood
To elevate both form and function, we replaced the built-in microwave with a streamlined vent hood. This single change dramatically shifted the visual balance of the kitchen, creating a more intentional focal point above the range. The new hood introduces architectural interest and reinforces the kitchen’s refined, tailored feel—while improving ventilation and usability.

Updating the Countertops for Light and Movement
The countertops were swapped for a stone surface with subtle veining and organic movement. This update brightens the space, reflects natural light beautifully, and adds visual softness throughout the room. The new counters feel elevated yet approachable, grounding the design while allowing other finishes to shine.

Refreshing the Backsplash for Texture and Cohesion
A new backsplash completed the transformation. We replaced the previous tile with a more refined option that introduces texture and gentle sheen, tying together the cabinetry, countertops, and appliances. The result is a clean, cohesive backdrop that enhances the overall design without competing for attention.

A Seamless Continuation of the Home’s Design Story
This kitchen now feels fully aligned with the rest of the home—a seamless continuation of the updates completed in Phase One. Every decision was made with longevity in mind, favoring timeless materials, subtle contrast, and thoughtful details over fleeting trends.

At Lindsey Putzier Design Studio, we believe phased renovations allow homes to evolve intentionally. This kitchen remodel proves that meaningful change doesn’t always require a full gut—just a clear vision and strategic design choices that elevate everyday living.
