Our client spends long days in her home office, which was not an inspiring place for her to be! She loves dark, moody colors, so we reimagined her office to better reflect her personal style.
The mustard colored walls and white bookshelves weren’t cutting it. The room already had one black chalk wall. We leaned into the black and painted the rest of the walls to match.
To keep the room from becoming a gloomy tomb, we recommended adding wallpaper behind the bookshelves and on the wall behind the desk (for a bright pop of color during video conferences).
We recommended also painting the bookshelves and trim black for a cohesive look.
Here are the two design concepts we came up with. Which do you prefer?
As you can tell from the After photos, our client fell in love with the second concept!

The bookshelves have so much more style now!
This window seat was too large of a focal point not to do something creative with, so we added a grouping of custom pillows in coordinating fabrics.
To cut down on the messy storage, we also recommended adding doors to the storage beneath the bookshelves.
When we relocated the desk, we also added in two great storage chests to help with organization! Our client’s existing office chair was perfect for the design, so we leaned into it when selecting the sleek black desk.
Not only is this room an office, it also doubles as a kids’ craft room once school is out.
The chalk wall continues to be very popular with the kiddos!

We relocated the sofa closer to the windows for a better view, plus added new ottomans and some beautiful floral pillows that match the wallpaper! We love it when manufacturers make matching wallpapers and fabrics – it really completes a room!
