Earthy Oasis: A Dual Bathroom Transformation

In this renovation, we reimagined two dated bathrooms and transformed them into calming, grounded spaces rooted in warmth, texture, and natural beauty. Each design draws from earthy tones and organic materials, creating a cohesive yet distinct experience – one that feels both elevated and deeply livable.

Before: Dated, Dim, and Disconnected

The original bathrooms feel narrow and heavy, with dark wood cabinetry, low ceilings, and outdated finishes that absorb light rather than reflect it. Fluorescent lighting cast a yellow tone across the space, while vinyl flooring and laminate countertops lacked dimension and visual interest.

In the primary bath, a long vanity dominated the layout, paired with a mirrored wall that feels more functional than intentional. There was a completely unnecessary wall separating the sink from the toilet and shower area. The shower was tiny, cramped, and had no exhaust fan. Mold and mildew, and you can imagine, ran wild in a tiny space with zero ventilation and lots of moisture.

In the kids’ bath, the florescent lighting, bath unit, and worn laminate flooring weren’t doing anyone any favors. The overall layout was fine, though.

Overall, both rooms lack cohesion. Materials feel disconnected, and there was little sense of calm or design direction.

After: An Earthy, Elevated Escape

We reimagined these spaces as an earthy oasis—grounded in organic textures, warm neutrals, and thoughtful contrast.

Material & Texture

We introduced layered materials to bring depth and intention into each bathroom. In the primary bath, rich green tile envelops the walk-in shower, creating a spa-like moment that feels both calming and immersive. The tonal variation mimics nature, bringing the outdoors inward.

In the kids’ bath, terrazzo tile wraps the shower walls, offering a playful yet refined nod to natural stone. On the floors, soft geometric patterns in warm clay tones add movement while maintaining a grounded palette.

Warm Wood & Natural Contrast

We replaced the heavy, outdated cabinetry with custom walnut vanities, instantly warming the space. The clean lines feel modern, while the wood grain introduces an organic softness that anchors the design.

We paired these with light countertops – natural quartzite for the primary bath, and a super easy-to-clean quartz in the kids’ bath.

Refined Fixtures & Lighting

Matte black fixtures create a striking contrast against the softer palette, adding definition without overpowering the design. We swapped outdated lighting for sculptural, evenly diffused fixtures that brighten the space and highlight its materials.

Mirrors are simplified and framed, bringing structure and intention to the vanity wall.

A Shift in Atmosphere

Where the bathrooms once felt dim and dated, they now feel open, fresh, and restorative. Every choice—from the earthy color palette to the tactile materials—works together to create a sense of calm.
